Meal Planning & Preparation

21 Aug

We are getting ready to move into a new home in a week and we decided to purchase a small chest freezer now that we will have the space to put it. We believe eating fresh local food is best for our health but also enjoy having the convenience of ready to heat homemade meals for those busy days. Having something in the freezer ready to heat ensures that we are not tempted to do take out, which over time drains the wallet with unnecessary spending and relieves any stress of last minute dinner preparations.

We usually prepare and freeze spaghetti, lasagne, beef stew, fruit crisps, muffins, banana bread and tortellini soup. I think I am going to start cutting and marinating chicken and beef for ready to make stir fry.

Do you prepare meals once a week or even once a month to have available for those nights you are just not sure you will have time to cook?

Would love to hear what kinds of meals are your families favourites that you make ahead and throw in the freezer!

I have a great meatloaf recipe… yup I said meatloaf. Don’t worry it no 1950 cornflake version. It’s actually done in the slow cooker. I buy a family size pack of ground beef and make a bunch of loaves, then you just drop it into the cooker frozen in the am. and it’s ready by dinner time!
I’ve also done hamburger soup, which is good.

We should get together sometime and make some big batches together!!
